Summer Camp Registration, How to get that spot and why those mass booking dates just are not fair!

How to Secure Your Child’s Spot at Summer Camp: Tips for Busy Parents that cannot simply take a day off work just to register for camp.

Finding the perfect summer camp for your child can feel like a race—especially when spots fill up quickly. Between busy work schedules, school commitments, and family life and holidays , it’s easy to feel like you’re always a step behind. If your like most parents and hate Summer camp registration remember there are easier options out there, to make sure your child doesn’t miss out on an unforgettable summer experience.

1. Plan Early
The earlier you start thinking about summer, the better. Many popular camps fill up fast, especially for younger ages and specialty programs. Mark your calendar now, set reminders on your phone and Alexa, and be ready when registration opens ( I know no one is thinking about camp in December, were too busy already.. so make a list and check it twice, I promise it will help.

2. Know Your Priorities
Decide what matters most—location, program type, specific activities, or flexibility. Knowing your priorities will help you act quickly when registration opens.

3. Prioritize Camps That Prioritize You
Be honest—those “everyone must book at the same time or you don’t get a spot” systems are frustrating and unfair. Some parents can’t take time off work or get multiple devices online at once. That creates an unequal playing field for families.

At Your Neighbourhood Camp, we do it differently: we open spaces a little at a time to guarantee spots for parents throughout the summer. Choose camps that put families first, we prioritize caregivers and their needs - we are happy to slow things down and save those sports for last min bookings and kiddos that may have missed out on other camps.

4. Use Waitlists Wisely
If a camp is full, don’t give up! Sign up for waitlists as soon as possible. Spots often open due to cancellations, and being on the list gives you an early advantage.

At YNC we always contact our wait lists by phone and email to make sure parents don’t miss out and we will give you extra time to respond too!

5. Set Up Your Account Early
Many camps allow you to create a parent account ahead of time. Completing this step early ensures you can register quickly without last-minute stress.

At YNC our booking process is easy and straight forward- choose your camp fill out the attendance form pay and your done No need for registration for accounts- although we do offer them for you to keep track of your payments and invoices to keep it easy for tax time.

6. Be Flexible with Weeks
If your schedule allows, consider alternate weeks or partial weeks. This can increase your chances of securing a spot while still giving your child an incredible camp experience.

At YNC we have 9 full weeks and three camp choices per week to choose from!

7. Stay Informed
Follow camps on social media, subscribe to newsletters, and check their websites regularly for updates. This ensures you’re the first to know about registration openings or special promotions. check us out on instagram @yourneighbourhoodcampinc or sign up for our newsletter to get all the insider information!
